Established in 1985 as “Turkey’s First Rock Salt Factory,” Safir Salt was found in cooperation with the Governorship of Çankırı and Çantaş Çankırı Salt Products Manufacturing and Distribution Inc., a subsidiary of the Çankırı Provincial Administration.
The facility is strategically located at the 4th kilometer of the Çankırı–Ankara highway, just 130 km from Ankara, and is built on a total area of 41,450 m².
SAFIR SALT is operating a rock salt cave, 20 km away from the facility, known to have been used since the Hittite period and unaffected by environmental pollution. The raw salt extracted from here by the mole method without using explosives is refined in salt processing factories and packed without being damaged. Various analyses done in accredited institutions and organizations, as well as in Safir Tuz A.Ş. Food Quality Control Laboratories and becomes ready for consumption in the distribution chain..
As the first salt factory in Türkiye, as a result of investments made to increase food, environmental and employee safety and to improve process efficiency, the monthly production capacity of 3.000 tons has been increased to 10.000 tons. With this capacity increase, the production of various products such as food salt, granular salt, nitrite salt, animal licking salt, snow and de-icing road salt and tablet and block salt used in water treatment systems continues and the company continues its activities as one of the leading salt producers in the national and international arena.
